Candidate ScreeningCandidate Screening
Interviews candidates for election to public offices in Broward County. Develops an understanding of candidate positions on real estate issues and recommends candidates to the GFLR Board of Directors and then to the general membership..

Commitment: As needed during elections.

Government AffairsGovernment Affairs
Provides general over-sight of all legislative and political involvement at local, state and national levels. The committee also lobbies for and takes positons on issues impacting private property rights, housing and the real estate profession. Appointments to the Government Affairs Committee are for a two-year staggered terms.

Commitment: As needed.

GrievanceGrievance
Receives complaints from the public and real estate industry professionals involving alleged violations of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Standards Practice. Serving as the Association’s grand jury, committee members determine probable cause and conduct preliminary evaluations. Appointments to the Grievance Committee are for a three-year period. Members must attend annual NAR-mandated training. Limited appointments per policy.

Commitment: Once a month.

Global Real Estate CouncilGlobal Real Estate Committee for the Global Real Estate Council
These eight committee members provide oversight to the Global Real Estate Council (GREC), expanding GREC member networks through the offering of valuable education on market trends and cultural diversity in international real estate. Members of this committee must be members of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Global Real Estate Council (GREC).

Commitment: Once a month.

MLS PolicyMLS Policy
These seven committee members provides oversight of Multiple Listing Service (MLS) policy and monitors the performance standards of the MLS. Reviews and recommends changes in technology and services to meet current and future needs. Appointments to the MLS Policy Committee are for a two-year staggered terms.

Commitment: Every other month.

Professional StandardsProfessional Standards
Committee members serve on ethics and arbitration hearing panels, adjudicate alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and determine the entitlement of arbitration awards. To qualify to serve on the committee, members must have had three consecutive years of service on the Grievance Committee and must attend an annual NAR-mandated training course. Appointments to the Professional Standards Committee are for a three-year period.

Commitment: As needed.

RPACREALTOR® Political Action & Involvement (RPAC)
Organizes fundraising activities for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) in order to meet annual fundraising goals and to reach out to member brokers and office managers to secure their involvement in NAR’s Broker Involvement Program and other association political activities and events.

Commitment: As needed.

YPNYoung Professionals Network (YPN)
(Not A Committee) YPN offers young professionals the opportunity to network and build strong relationships with other professionals within the real estate industry. These individuals will come together to network and promote standards of professional development through involvement with local, statewide and national real estate related issues.

Commitment: As needed.

Appointments are for a one-year term unless otherwise noted. If your first committee choice is unavailable for any reason, the President will do his best to appoint you to your next committee choice. Unfortunately, due to the number of interested volunteers and limited appointments, we may be unable to grant your request of being on a committee.
